Decline To Write Reference Letter

    

I was flattered to receive your request that I write a job reference letter on your behalf. I'm pleased that you hold me in such high esteem. Unfortunately, I must decline.

While I have enjoyed our golf games, I have never had the opportunity to witness you in the capacity of employee, and thus don't feel comfortable providing such a reference.

Additionally, you and I had that argument after last month's game, and I feel as if that were to weigh on my mind and influence any letter I were to write.
